Expansion of the Accademia Carrara
The project, designed by Antonio Ravalli Architetti and INOUT Architettura, completes the renovation of the museum with an intervention that opens it up to the outside world and enhances its location at the foot of the Upper Town. The aim is to create a fluid connection between the interior spaces and integrate new services such as a garden and café, in line with the needs of contemporary museums.
The new connecting structure, in the western quadrant, takes the form of a walkway that blends archaeology, stone, wood and metal, offering views of the park and the city. The project includes walkways and ramps with panoramic rest areas, a reinforced concrete lift and a laminated wood roof, providing access to the café and the restored terraces. A project that transforms the boundary between nature and the built environment into an immersive experience, where architecture and landscape interact in harmony.
